The 2012 Infiniti FX’s new grille marks the biggest change from the 2011 car’s elegantly simple opening into a more aggressive, pinched form. In addition to its new shape, the grille now is made up of thin chrome slats instead of black mesh. The lower front fascia gets more visual courtesy of thin bands of chrome outlining the fog-light.

The interior was left alone except for the instrument cluster, which gets a white-on-blue information display between the gauges that replaces the orange-on-red unit from before. The 2012 FX35 still is powered by a 303-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and available with rear- or all-wheel drive, while the FX50 carries over its 390-hp, 5.0-liter V-8 and standard all-wheel-drive.
Buyers can still equip their FX with Premium, Deluxe Touring, Technology, and Sport packages. As before, a host of techno stuff is available, including active cruise control, lane-departure warning and prevention systems, brake assist, and collision warning.

Every FX comes standard with Infiniti’s Personal Assistant, a phone-based 24-hour concierge service, which owners can call to get directions, emergency assistance, restaurant suggestions, etc. The Personal Assistant service is free for the first four years.

Here at Infiniti of Norwood we have a great selection of FX35′s to choose from. Stop by and take one for a test drive.

We are well into the convertible season now and I know that Infiniti of Norwood customers want to enjoy a no compromise top down experience. One reason for this is the comfortable climate inside the car when the top is down. The climate control system automatically adjusts itself based on the top being down, the speed of the car and what the temperature is outside the car.

On hot days such the ones we are having this week, the fan speed will increase approximately 10% when the car is at idle. Whether you are cruising the highway and its 80 degrees out or you are stopped at a traffic light the climate control means you do nothing, just sit in total comfort.

On cold days when the temperature is 59 degrees or colder, the fan speed increases by 20% once the car reaches 60 miles per hour or more. This is bi-level, so the heat will hit your face and feet, so you don’t have to throw in the towel on summer yet.

This feature extends the top down driving season, and if you are able to calculate the cost of convertibles by days of use in a year, this feature adds to the Infiniti G37 convertibles value.

I took a long over due opportunity today to finally take a 2011 G25 Sedan out for a little drive in and around Norwood which included some highway time. I remembered when I was walking around the outside of the car of Infiniti talking about how the height and low profile give the car a subtle aggressive look. The one I drove was the all-wheel version, Platinum Silver with Graphite interior. The seats appear to be hand stitched and the trim is called “Shodo” aluminum and gives the appearance of rice paper. The console is very impressive and easy on the eyes. I found everything very easy to use. I adjusted the 8-way power driver’s seat and I was ready to roll.

Now for the ride, this car is powered with a 218-horsepower 2.5 liter V6 engine. The engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. I think this engine delivers plenty of power to move you in and out of traffic. The acceleration was crisp and responsive, the suspension was tight and because of the design of the car it handled very well even at highway speeds. It’s one very sporty car disguised as a sedan and was very comfortable too boot.

There were some other goodies on this car that are worthy of comment. The 17” inch aluminum alloy wheels come standard. It comes with heated front seats and mirrors (too hot today for that), dual climate control which I had running full blast, and a great 6 speaker stereo that included XM satellite. Standard USB port as well.

The G25 is offered in base sedan, Journey and AWD trim levels. Also for 2011 the Journey added rear view camera a new front fascia with the fog lights relocated to the lower corners.

All in all a very nice car!

With gas prices constantly in flux, Infiniti has once again come up with innovating solutions in the production of luxury cars. This year marked the debut of the brand new 2012 Infiniti M35h Hybrid. Infiniti of Norwood is taking a look at what the new and exciting model is all about.

The Infiniti M Hybrid is the first V-6 true luxury-performance driver’s hybrid, and the only vehicle to offer more than 350 horsepower and 32 mpg fuel economy. EPA ratings are 27 mpg city/32 highway, with a combined city/highway rating of 29 mpg.
The 2012 M35h has the new Infiniti Direct Response Hybrid system, which uses a single electric motor, lithium-ion battery pack, 3.5-liter V-6 gasoline engine and seven-speed automatic transmission to provide a combination of electric and gasoline power.

The hybrid model does not use the 3.7-liter V-6 in the M37, the base model of the M-sedan lineup. Instead, it uses a version of the 3.5-liter V-6 that powered the previous generation of the M and also is installed in the 2011 Infiniti EX35 crossover.
When combined, the V-6 engine and 50-kilowatt electric motor produce 360 horsepower. The gasoline engine produces 258 foot-pounds of torque, and the electric motor has 199 foot-pounds of torque. The M35h offers the performance of a sports car with the fuel economy of a four-cylinder sedan.

Among standard features are power leather seats (10-way power in front), Japanese ash or silver-powdered white ash wood trim, active noise control, Infiniti’s intelligent-key system with push-button start, XM satellite radio, Bluetooth hands-free phone system, power moon roof, automatic high-intensity discharge xenon headlights with windshield wiper interlock, dual polished exhaust tips, power-folding heated outside mirrors with reverse tilt-down feature, rain-sensing variable intermittent windshield wipers and courtesy lamps built into the exterior door handles
Also included are 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels and P245/50R18 V-rated, all-season performance tires. Available are tri-split, five-spoke, 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

Also available are such high-tech features as blind-spot warning and intervention, Infiniti’s Forest Air cabin air-filtration system, active trace control (which aids steering) and a hard-drive-based in-dash navigation system.
The exterior paint color choices include Malbec Black, Liquid Platinum, Platinum Graphite, Storm Front Grey, Black Obsidian, Moonlight White and Harbour Blue.

Most models come equipped with the Premium Package, which adds the navigation system. It has an 8-inch touch-screen display, XM NavTraffic and NavWeather, the Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide and a 9.3-gigabyte Music Box hard drive. The package also includes a Bose 10-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel and heated/cooled front seats.
With the Deluxe Touring Package comes a 16-speaker Bose Studio Surround audio system, power rear sunshade, semi-aniline leather, quilted seat pattern with contrasting piping and additional bolstering, and wood trim.
Other options include the Technology Package, Sport Touring Package and Sport Package.

The all new 2011 Infiniti QX56 powered by a 5.6 liter, dual overhead cam 32-valve engine coupled with a 7 speed automatic shift is quite the people mover SUV. The V8 produces plenty of power, responds nicely when giving a punch on the throttle, and operates smoothly through the all the bands of the transmission. The driver’s position offers clear views all around, the interior opulent, and provides seating for 7 or 8 adults depending on seat configuration (bench versus captain).

The QX56 is big by any standards, looks mean coming down the road, and yet from inside you are surrounded in soft and pleasing leather. Some might even venture to say that this SUV is in a league of its own. Here at Infiniti of Norwood on the Automile, we have a great selection of QX56’s to choose from. Available packages include technology, deluxe touring and theater. For those who aspire for true luxury from an SUV, this is a vehicle not to be overlooked.

At Infiniti of Norwood, we offer outstanding customer service, appointments are highly recommended, and the product specialists are all top notch! But don’t just take our word for it. Consumer Reports recently released a survey comparing four different luxury sedans with the G25, with the G25 coming out on top, scoring an “Excellent” rating from the critics.

According to Chris Shrunk at Autoblog.com:

Consumer Reports put four new sports sedans to the test, and the Buick Regal Turbo and Infiniti G25 came out on top. The G25 managed a score of “Excellent,” as the consumer advocacy magazine gave the sedan high marks for ride and handling and well-weighted steering. The G25 now lags only the more powerful G37 on CR’s list of the 13 best sports sedans in the mid-size segment.

While the Regal and G25 received kudos, the 2011 Audi A4 and 2011 Volvo S60 didn’t fare as well. The A4, which has been given the coveted “Recommended” nod from CR, now ranks 12th out of 13 vehicles, trailing only the Saab 9-3. Ouch. The Volvo S60 fared a bit better, with a ranking of 10th.

You can read the Consumer Reports release here. Infiniti of Norwood is continuously committed to providing you with a great product at a fantastic value. We also strive to give our customers a comfortable and enjoyable car shopping experience. We will continue to work hard to be the best Infiniti dealer in Massachusetts. Have a great summer, and hopefully, we’ll see you soon here on the Automile!
